Firm
History:
The law firm of McMahon & Grow traces its history back over 150 years beginning with the great-grandfather of Richard H. McMahon in the mid 1850's. It is a combination of two law firms which merged in the 1960's - Grow and Grow and the Law Offices of Richard H. McMahon.
George B. Grow and Richard H. McMahon remain from that original merger, with Mr. Grow presently counsel to the firm. John W. Grow was a partner until his election to the New York State Supreme Court in 1982. David C. Grow joined the firm in 1973. Honorable Richard D. Simons retired from the New York State Court of Appeals in 1996 and became counsel to the firm in 1997. Julie Grow Denton joined the firm in 2002.
The firm represents clients in the general practice of law, concentrating on banking, corporate, commercial, construction, real estate, labor and environmental law issues, employee/employer relations, litigation, including personal injury lawsuits, and wills, trusts and estate planning. Attorneys with the firm are active participants in various bar associations and local community groups, such as the Chamber of Commerce, industrial development agencies, United Way, churches and charitable organizations. David Grow is President, and Richard McMahon, Secretary, of The Rome Community Foundation, a public foundation serving the Rome area. The firm’s attorneys are available to local groups wishing a speaker on legal matters.
For most of its
history, the firm has served as General Counsel to The Rome Savings Bank,
the largest community bank in Rome, New York, and has assisted the Bank in
its transition to a publically held corporation, now known as Rome Bancorp,
Inc. It also represents a number of locally owned corporations, including
some involved in internet sales and communications, publishing and manufacturing.
